Abstract:

Chiefly accounts but also including 1 loose page containing the minutes of the meeting to dissolve the association at Sacramento on Oct. 4, 1849. Initialed by C[harles] B. B[urrell, Treasurer.].
Manuscript poems, addresses, and diary entires (26 pages), 1851-1890s, plus several pages of clippings, chiefly from The Owl (Hoitt's School, Menlo Park), 1899-1904, relating to the Hoitt's Schools in Menlo Park and Burlingame and the Hoitt family. Also contains clippings from the Alta California of five "Letters from Hawaii - From a lady correspondent of the Alta" (apparently Julia B. Hoitt), May - June 1868.

Ira G. Hoitt, was a California State Superintendent of Public Instruction in the 1880s. His wife, Julia B. Hoitt, was Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction at the same time. They were co-founders of the Hoitt's Schools in Burlingame (founded 1898) and in Menlo Park (founded 1899?).
